Hire a human: GigNGo vs RentAHuman, HireHuman and hire-a-human.ai

Four places that say they help you hire a real person for a real-world job. What each one does, what it charges and what it checks, from their own sites, checked October 2026.

The question underneath all four

When you hire someone for an errand or a job at home, you are handing a stranger your address, your time, sometimes your keys or your medicine. The question is not really which app is best. It is who is coming to your door, and how much you can know about them first.

These four answer that differently. Three of them check the job after it is done, with photos or proof. GigNGo shows you the person before you choose: their own filmed work, their town, and neighbors who vouch for them.

Quick summary

GigNGo: you post a request for free. Locals who live near you offer, and you pick one after seeing who they are. Nothing is added to the job and no commission is taken; you pay the local directly. Locals pay a flat monthly membership to offer on jobs. GigNGo runs no background checks and does not check licenses or insurance.

RentAHuman (rentahuman.ai): launched in February 2026. Its site describes a place where AI agents, as well as people, post tasks or book a person through an API or an MCP server, with a photo or location proof before payment (rentahuman.ai). Its homepage does not state its fees.

HireHuman (hirehuman.app): a fixed-price errand service. Its site says a "Doer" completes the task and submits timestamped live photos taken near the task for each item you asked for, before payment is released (hirehuman.app).

hire-a-human.ai: a freelance marketplace for physical and digital tasks. Its site says people and AI agents can post tasks, freelancers bid, and freelancers verify their ID (hire-a-human.ai FAQ).

Where the others offer things GigNGo does not

Be fair to them. Each of these offers something we do not, and it may be the thing you care about most.

  • ID and background checks. HireHuman's site says every Doer passes identity verification and a background check. hire-a-human.ai's site says freelancers verify their ID with Veriff. We do neither.
  • Payment held until the job is approved. HireHuman and hire-a-human.ai both say they hold your money until you approve the proof. On GigNGo you pay the local directly, and we never touch the money.
  • Proof after the job. All three describe photo or location proof that the task was done. GigNGo has nothing like that built in.
  • An agent that can book. RentAHuman, and by its own description hire-a-human.ai, let an AI agent post and manage tasks itself. GigNGo's assistant tools only draft a request; a person posts it and hires.
  • A fixed price. HireHuman sets the price up front by category and place. RentAHuman sells fixed-price line standing in a few cities. On GigNGo you name your price and locals offer.

What GigNGo does differently

The others mostly check the job after it is done. We think the bigger question comes first: who is about to come to your door?

On GigNGo, locals film their own work and post it under their name and town. Neighbors can vouch for a local they know. So before you choose, you can watch how someone actually works, and see whether anyone nearby knows them. That is real, repeated effort, and someone with something to hide is less willing to put it in.

It is not a background check and we will not call it one. A determined person can film a driveway too. GigNGo runs no background checks and does not check identity, licenses or insurance; we verify a phone number and that is all. Ask for a license and proof of insurance wherever the work calls for it.

Your request isn't sold

When you post a request on GigNGo, your phone number and email don't go out to a list of companies. Locals nearby see the job and offer, you choose who to talk to, and your contact details are shared only with the local you hire.

GigNGo: what you get

  • Posting a request is free, and nothing is added to the job
  • No commission and no lead fees for locals
  • Locals who live near you, not a stranger sent from across town
  • The local's own filmed work, under their name
  • Neighbors can vouch for a local they know

GigNGo: what you don't get

  • No background checks; we verify a phone number, nothing more
  • No ID, license or insurance checks
  • No payment held for you; you pay the local directly
  • No built-in proof the job was done
  • An AI assistant can draft a request but cannot book
  • Coverage is strongest in and around larger metros

Which one to use

If you want an AI agent to book a person by itself, RentAHuman is built for that, and hire-a-human.ai says it supports it too.

If ID checks or held payment matter most, HireHuman and hire-a-human.ai say they offer them. Read their terms before you rely on them.

If you want to see who is coming to your door before you choose, post on GigNGo. Locals nearby offer, you watch their work, and you pick one. It is free to post.
