Nextdoor Local Faves vs GigNGo

One ranks businesses by how many neighbors vouch for them. The other lets you watch a local work, when they have filmed it. Here is when each helps.

Last Updated: September 30, 2026

Nextdoor Local Faves ranks local businesses by how many verified neighbors vouch for them. On GigNGo, when a local has filmed their work, you can watch it before they come to your door. They answer two different questions, and many people will want both answers.

When you let someone into your home, you want to know two things: do people around here think well of them, and how do they actually work? Nextdoor is built around the first question. GigNGo is built around the second.

What Nextdoor Local Faves is

Nextdoor launched Local Faves on September 2, 2026, in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Its announcement describes it as a hub that "shows local businesses near you, by category, ranked by neighbor trust." That trust is measured in Faves, which Nextdoor calls its "signal that a neighbor vouches for a business."

The numbers behind it are large. In its blog post, Nextdoor says neighbors have shared nearly 75 million Faves across nearly 6.6 million businesses, that "both neighbors and businesses on the platform are verified," and that recommendations already make up nearly 30% of everything posted on Nextdoor. It also says Local Faves has no paid reviews.

Using both

The two fit together well. Find a local on GigNGo, watch a few of their videos, then ask on Nextdoor whether anyone nearby has used them. Or find a well-loved business on Local Faves and ask them to show you a similar job they have done.

For locals, the same holds. If you have a free Nextdoor Business Page, put your GigNGo link on it so neighbors who Fave you can also see your work.

The short version

Frequently asked questions

What is Nextdoor Local Faves?

Local Faves is a page on Nextdoor, launched September 2, 2026 in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., that shows local businesses near you by category, ranked by neighbor trust. The ranking comes from Faves, which Nextdoor calls its signal that a neighbor vouches for a business. Nextdoor says neighbors have shared nearly 75 million Faves across nearly 6.6 million businesses.

How is GigNGo different from Nextdoor Local Faves?

Nextdoor tells you which businesses your neighbors recommend. On GigNGo, when a local has filmed their work, you can watch it before you let them into your home, and you can post what you need so locals nearby offer to do it. Neighbors can vouch for locals on GigNGo too, but the videos are the main thing you judge by.

What does GigNGo check about a local?

A phone number, and nothing more. GigNGo runs no background checks, license checks or insurance checks. What it gives you is the local's own filmed work, their profile and what neighbors say about them, so you can judge for yourself. For work that needs a license, check it with your state.

Should I use Nextdoor or GigNGo to find someone?

Use both. Nextdoor is good for hearing which businesses your neighbors have used for years. GigNGo is good for seeing how a specific local works before they come over, and for posting a request when you do not know anyone yet. Asking neighbors about a local you found on GigNGo is a sensible extra check.
