1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information Provided by Users

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you create an account, post or apply for jobs, upload videos, or communicate through the Platform. This information may include:

Full name, email address, and phone number
Profile and business information, including bios, social media links, and service descriptions
Residential or business address and geographic location (for directory and map listings)
Photos, avatars, and portfolio images
Account credentials and preferences
Payment information (processed by third-party providers)
Government-issued identification (for verification purposes, if applicable)

You may choose to display certain details publicly, such as your profile, listings, videos, or reviews.

1.2 Location Information

GigNGo uses location data to help users find local services or locals nearby. Location information is collected through:

User-Provided Addresses: City, state, zip code, or full address entered during profile setup.
IP-Based Geolocation: Approximate location determined from your IP address.
Device Location: GPS coordinates from your mobile device (with your permission).
Signup City and State: When you create an account, we automatically detect and permanently record your city and state at the time of registration. This information is used to monitor marketplace health, ensure adequate service coverage in your area, and improve the quality of our local marketplace. This data is stored separately from your editable profile location and cannot be changed after signup.

Location Privacy Protection: While we store your exact coordinates for accurate proximity calculations, we apply a random offset (0.2-0.8 miles) when displaying your location on public maps. This "location fuzzing" protects your privacy by preventing others from determining your exact address. See Section 1.8 for details.

1.3 Communications and Messages

Messages exchanged between users through the in-app messaging system are stored on our servers for a minimum of sixty (60) days. This retention period helps GigNGo monitor for fraud, resolve disputes, improve user safety, and comply with legal obligations. Messages may be retained longer if required by law or for ongoing investigations.

We also use automated tools to measure messages in aggregate, for example how often a conversation gets a reply or whether contact details were shared, so we can see whether jobs posted on GigNGo actually get answered and done. Staff do not read your messages for this purpose, the text is not stored for it, and the results are used only as totals.

1.4 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking tools to enhance your browsing experience and collect analytics. These may include:

Session Cookies: Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser, used to maintain your login session.
Persistent Cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a set period, used to remember your preferences.
Google Analytics: Tracks site usage, page views, session duration, and user demographics.
Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram): Measures ad effectiveness, tracks conversions, and enables retargeting.
OneSignal: Stores device tokens for push notifications.
PostHog: Product analytics platform that tracks user behavior, feature usage, session recordings, funnel analysis, and A/B testing. Collects anonymous event data to improve platform functionality and user experience.
Email Tracking Pixels: Our marketing emails may contain small transparent images (tracking pixels) that notify us when an email is opened. We also track clicks on links within emails to measure engagement and improve our communications.

You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some platform features may not function properly without them. Email tracking can be limited by disabling image loading in your email client.

1.5 Payment Information

All payments and subscription transactions are processed through secure third-party providers such as Stripe or PayPal. GigNGo does not store or process credit card details directly. Our payment providers may collect personal and financial information in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

Stripe Privacy Policy: https://stripe.com/privacy
PayPal Privacy Policy: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/privacy-full

1.6 Video Data Collection

When you upload videos to the GigFeed (Inspiration Feed), we collect and process:

Video Files: Uploaded video files in MP4, MOV, or WebM format (up to 500MB, 5 seconds to 3 minutes duration).
Video Metadata: Title, description, category, tags, tools, materials, and other descriptive information you provide.
Thumbnails: Automatically generated thumbnail images from your video.
Engagement Metrics: View count, like count, share count, watch time, completion rate, and geographic distribution of viewers.
Technical Data: Video duration, resolution, bitrate, codec, file size, and upload timestamp.
Device Information: Device type, operating system, and browser used for upload.

Videos are uploaded to and hosted by Cloudflare Stream, a third-party video hosting and delivery service. Cloudflare processes your videos to transcode them into multiple formats and resolutions, generate thumbnails and preview clips, deliver videos via a global content delivery network (CDN), and provide analytics on video performance. Cloudflare's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

1.7 AI Processing Data

GigNGo uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance platform functionality. AI systems process:

Job Descriptions: Text analysis to categorize tasks and detect prohibited content.
Video Content: Analysis of video metadata, titles, and descriptions for categorization and content moderation.
User Profiles: Analysis of skills, services, and experience for matching and recommendations.
Messages: Scanning for spam, harassment, and illegal content, and automated, aggregate measurement of whether conversations get answered.
Personalization: AI-powered email drafting and audience targeting for marketing communications.

AI processing may be performed by third-party providers including Anthropic (Claude API) for natural language processing tasks. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it solely for processing requests on behalf of GigNGo.

Important: We do not use your content to train AI models for external purposes or sell your data to third parties for AI training. AI processing is performed solely to operate and improve the Platform.

1.8 Location Fuzzing Data

To protect local privacy, we implement location fuzzing:

Exact Coordinates: Your precise latitude and longitude are stored securely in our database and never displayed publicly.
Fuzzed Coordinates: A random offset between 0.2 and 0.8 miles is applied when displaying your location on maps.
Randomization: The offset distance and direction are randomized each time the map loads, making it impossible to reverse-engineer your exact location.
Server-Side Usage: Exact coordinates are used server-side for accurate distance calculations (e.g., determining proximity to job postings) but are never exposed to other users.

1.9 SMS and Phone Data

When you provide your phone number, we collect and process the following for SMS communications:

Phone Number: Your mobile phone number, used to send texts about your own activity on GigNGo, only if you have agreed to receive texts (see Section 1.5 of our Terms). We do not send marketing texts.
SMS Delivery Data: Delivery status, timestamps, and carrier information for sent messages.
Opt-In/Opt-Out Records: Records of your consent to receive SMS messages and any opt-out requests, retained for TCPA compliance.
Time Zone Data: Your local time zone, used to ensure messages are sent during permitted hours (8 AM–9 PM local time).

SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, a third-party communications platform. Your phone number and message content are shared with Twilio solely for delivery purposes. Twilio's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy: https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy

We do not share, sell or rent your mobile number or SMS opt-in data to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the providers that deliver the messages for us.

1.10 Referral and Sharing Data

When you participate in our referral program or share content from GigNGo, we collect:

Referral Link Activity: Clicks on your unique referral link, including timestamps, referring pages, and geographic data of visitors.
Referral Attribution: When a new user signs up through your referral link, we record the connection between your account and theirs for credit tracking.
Creator Invite Links: When you tap a creator's invite link on a phone, we note the creator, your phone type (iPhone or Android) and a scrambled, one-way code made from your network address. When you first open the app, we check for a match so the creator who sent you gets credit, even if you installed the app from the app store. We never store your network address itself, only that scrambled code, and we delete it within 48 hours. If more than one creator could have sent you, we credit no one. You can always enter, or skip, an invite code yourself.
Share Activity: When you share profiles, videos, or job postings via the Platform's sharing features, we track which content was shared and through which channel (social media, email, messaging, etc.).

1.11 Behavioral and Engagement Data

To improve Platform performance and user experience, we collect behavioral data including:

Local Response Time: We track the time between when a Local receives a notification about a job and when they open the app or respond, to calculate average response times displayed on profiles.
Profile Completion: We track which profile fields you have completed and calculate a "profile strength" score to encourage complete profiles.
Feature Usage: We track which Platform features you use, how frequently, and in what order to improve user experience.
Session Data: App open times, session duration, screens viewed, and navigation patterns.

1.12 Diagnostics and Crash Reporting

To keep the Platform stable, we automatically collect diagnostic data when the app or website encounters an error, including crash reports, error messages, stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app version. This data is processed by Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, solely to identify and fix defects. Sentry's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/

1.13 Reviews You Import From Another Site

If you are a local, you can choose to bring reviews you already have elsewhere onto your GigNGo profile. This only ever happens because you asked for it, and you can disconnect at any time.

Google Business Profile. If you connect a Google Business Profile you own or manage, you sign in with Google and grant GigNGo permission to manage your Business Profile (the business.manage scope). We use that permission only to read: the list of Business Profile listings your Google account can manage, so you can pick yours, and the Google reviews on the listing you pick. For each review we store the review text, the star rating, the date, the reviewer's name and profile photo exactly as Google gives them to us (or "A Google user" when Google marks the reviewer anonymous), Google's ID for the review, and the listing's name, Google Maps link and place ID. We also store a Google refresh token so we can update the reviews, and we do not keep access tokens. The reviews are shown on your GigNGo profile, marked "From Google", and never count toward your GigNGo rating.

What we never do with Google data. We never post, reply to, edit or remove anything on your Business Profile, and we never read your Gmail, contacts, calendar or anything else in your Google account. We do not sell Google data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Review text passes through the same automated safety screen as everything else posted on GigNGo, including OpenAI's moderation service, which checks it for abusive or illegal content and nothing else; people at GigNGo see it only as it appears on your profile, or when needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your permission. GigNGo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How long we keep Google reviews. We refresh them once a day. When you disconnect Google on GigNGo, the reviews and the refresh token are deleted right away. If we lose access for any other reason, the reviews are deleted within 30 days, for example if you remove GigNGo at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Removing them from GigNGo never changes anything on Google.

Facebook Pages. If you connect a Facebook Page you manage, we read the recommendations on that Page and show them on your GigNGo profile. We store the review text, whether it recommends you, any star rating, the date, the reviewer's name exactly as Facebook gives it to us, the name of the Page and a link to its public reviews, and an access token for that Page so we can refresh them. Facebook often withholds the reviewer's name; when it does, the review shows as "A Facebook user" and we do not try to work out who they are.

We only read. We never post, comment, reply, advertise, or change anything on your Page, and we do not read your Facebook profile, your friends, or your messages.

How long we keep them. We refresh the recommendations once a day. They are deleted when you disconnect the Page on GigNGo, when you remove GigNGo in your Facebook settings, or within 30 days if we lose access to the Page for any other reason. Removing them from GigNGo never changes anything on Facebook.

We track email engagement through open tracking pixels and link click tracking to measure effectiveness and improve our communications.

You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by:

Clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
Replying "STOP" to any SMS marketing message.
Adjusting your notification preferences in account settings.
Contacting [email protected] with your request.

Note: You cannot opt out of transactional communications (e.g., account verification, password resets, payment confirmations, security alerts) as these are necessary for the Platform's operation.

2.3 Personalization and Recommendations

We use profile data, location, and browsing behavior to personalize your experience:

Job Recommendations: Showing gigs or tasks near your area or matching your skills.
Local Recommendations: Displaying locals with relevant experience for posted jobs.
Video Recommendations: Suggesting videos in categories you've viewed or engaged with.
Search Results: Prioritizing results based on relevance, proximity, and your preferences.

2.4 Analytics and Performance

GigNGo operates a comprehensive analytics system that collects and analyzes data across multiple dimensions to improve the Platform. Information collected through analytics and tracking tools is used to:

Understand how users interact with GigNGo.
Identify popular features and areas for improvement.
Measure advertising effectiveness and return on investment.
Optimize page load times and video playback performance.
Track user acquisition, retention, and engagement metrics.

Our comprehensive analytics system tracks metrics across the following categories:

Geographic Distribution: Number of consumers and locals per city and region, used to monitor marketplace health, identify underserved areas, and ensure a balanced supply of locals and customers in each location.
Acquisition: How users discover and sign up for GigNGo (referral sources, campaign attribution, sign-up conversion rates).
Activation: How new users complete onboarding (profile completion, first job post, first application).
Engagement: How actively users interact with the Platform (session frequency, feature usage, content creation).
Conversion: How effectively the Platform facilitates connections (job fill rates, application-to-hire ratios).
Quality and Trust: User satisfaction indicators (ratings, reviews, report rates, response times).
Revenue: Subscription and transaction metrics (anonymized and aggregated).
Safety: Content moderation effectiveness, fraud detection rates, and policy violation tracking.

Analytics data is primarily used in aggregated, anonymized form. Individual-level analytics are accessible only to authorized GigNGo personnel for Platform improvement and support purposes.

2.5 Legal and Safety Purposes

We may use or disclose personal information to:

Comply with legal obligations, court orders, or government requests.
Respond to lawful requests from law enforcement agencies.
Enforce our Terms and Conditions and other policies.
Protect the rights, property, and safety of GigNGo, our users, or others.
Prevent, detect, or investigate fraud, security breaches, or illegal activity.
Resolve disputes between users.

2.6 Video Content Processing

Videos uploaded to the Platform are processed for:

Hosting and Delivery: Storing videos on Cloudflare Stream and delivering them via CDN.
Transcoding: Converting videos into multiple formats (MP4, HLS) and resolutions (360p, 720p, 1080p) for optimal playback across devices.
Thumbnail Generation: Automatically creating thumbnail images at multiple timestamps.
Content Moderation: Scanning video metadata and content for prohibited material using automated systems.
Analytics: Tracking views, engagement, and performance metrics.
Recommendations: Using engagement data to suggest relevant videos to other users.

2.7 Push Notifications

We use OneSignal, a third-party push notification service, to send notifications to your device. Notifications may include:

New job postings near your location.
Messages from other users.
Application status updates.
Quote requests from consumers.
Platform updates and announcements.
Weather safety alerts and post-event recovery suggestions. If you have saved a home location, we use its approximate coordinates to check for active severe-weather alerts in your area from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), a public government data source. When a relevant alert is issued (e.g., high wind, flooding, severe storm, snow, freeze, or extreme heat), we may send you a safety alert. After the event passes, we may show an in-app "storm checkup" with suggested tasks (such as debris cleanup, roof, gutter, or basement checks) and, for homeowners, a next-day reminder. These alerts are informational only, are not a substitute for official emergency guidance, and we do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. You can turn these off via your notification preferences, and they stop entirely if you remove your home location.

OneSignal collects device tokens and unique identifiers, device type and operating system, notification interaction data (opens, dismissals), and approximate location (for geo-targeted notifications). You can manage notification preferences in your device settings or app settings. OneSignal's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy: https://onesignal.com/privacy_policy

2.8 Sharing Job Posts Beyond GigNGo

To help a job reach Locals who can do it, GigNGo may share open job posts beyond the app (see Section 4.7 of our Terms):

Content Shared: The job's title, description, type of work, and town and state may appear on a public GigNGo job page, which search engines (including Google's job listings) may show, and in listings GigNGo sends to job boards.
Contact Protection: Your name, street address, ZIP code, phone number, and email are not shown. Contact details typed into a description are removed. All replies go through GigNGo.
Third-Party Policies: Once a job is shown on another site, that site's own privacy policy and retention practices apply to it.
Removal: When a job is filled, expires, or is removed, its public page is marked closed and dropped from GigNGo's listings, though search engines or other sites may keep cached copies.

2.9 Search Engine Indexing

GigNGo proactively submits public content to search engines to improve discoverability:

Profile Indexing: Public Local profiles (including name, photo, title, bio, service area, and reviews) are submitted to search engines via sitemaps and the IndexNow protocol (Bing, Yandex).
Server-Side Rendering: Local profiles are rendered server-side to provide rich previews in search results.
Multi-Domain Indexing: Public content may be indexed across all GigNGo-operated domains (see Section 3.7).
Opt-Out: Contact [email protected] to request exclusion from search engine indexing.

4. Data Retention and User Control

4.1 Retention Period

4.6 Residual Directory Appearance

Deleted accounts or posts may remain temporarily visible in search results or directories due to external indexing by search engines (Google, Bing, etc.). GigNGo has limited control over third-party indexing behavior but will ensure that user data is properly removed from our internal systems. To expedite removal from search engines, you may submit removal requests directly to the search engine.

8. Video-Specific Data Practices

8.1 Video Analytics and Engagement Tracking

When users interact with videos on the Platform, we collect and analyze:

View Metrics: Number of views, unique viewers, repeat views.
Engagement Metrics: Likes, shares, comments (if enabled).
Watch Behavior: Watch time, completion rate, drop-off points, replay rate.
Geographic Data: Country, state, and city of viewers (aggregated).
Device Data: Device type, operating system, browser, screen resolution.
Referral Sources: How users discovered the video (search, recommendations, direct link).

This data is used to provide analytics to video creators (locals), improve video recommendations and search results, optimize video quality and playback performance, and identify trending content and popular categories.

8.2 Recommendation Algorithm

GigNGo uses an algorithm to recommend videos to users based on:

Viewing History: Videos you've watched, liked, or shared.
Category Preferences: Categories you've browsed or engaged with.
Location: Videos from locals in your area or region.
Popularity: Trending videos with high engagement.
Similarity: Videos similar to ones you've enjoyed.

The recommendation algorithm does not use sensitive personal information (race, religion, health data), private messages or communications, or payment or financial information.

8.3 Video Quality and Playback Optimization

To provide the best viewing experience, we:

Adaptive Bitrate Streaming: Automatically adjust video quality based on your internet connection speed.
Preloading: Preload upcoming videos in the feed for instant playback.
CDN Delivery: Deliver videos from the nearest geographic server for faster loading.
Format Detection: Serve the optimal video format (MP4, HLS) based on your device and browser.

These optimizations may involve collecting network speed and connection type, device capabilities and screen resolution, and playback errors and buffering events.

8.4 Thumbnail and Preview Generation

When you upload a video, we automatically generate multiple thumbnail images at different timestamps, select the most visually appealing thumbnail as the default (you can change this), and create short preview clips (2-5 seconds) for hover effects or previews. Thumbnails and previews are stored on Cloudflare Stream and delivered via CDN. They are subject to the same retention and deletion policies as the full video.

8.5 Video Content Moderation

Videos uploaded to GigNGo are subject to automated and manual content moderation:

Automated Scanning: AI systems scan video metadata (title, description, tags) for prohibited content.
Manual Review: Flagged videos or user reports are reviewed by GigNGo staff.
Hash Matching: Videos are checked against databases of known prohibited content (e.g., copyrighted material, illegal content).
User Reports: Other users can report videos for violations, triggering a review.

Moderation data (flags, reports, review outcomes) is retained for improving moderation systems, tracking repeat offenders, and responding to legal requests or investigations.

8.6 Video Sharing and Embedding

Videos on GigNGo can be shared via direct links, social media share buttons, and embedding codes (if enabled). When videos are shared or embedded, view counts and engagement metrics are tracked across all platforms, Cloudflare Stream may collect data from viewers on external sites, and shared videos remain subject to GigNGo's Terms and Conditions.

9. International Users and Global Privacy Rights

9.1 Data Storage Location

GigNGo is operated from the United States and our data infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud, Cloudflare) stores and processes data primarily in the United States. By creating an account and using the Platform from outside the United States, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your personal data to the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence.

9.2 GDPR — European Union and United Kingdom Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies to our processing of your personal data.

Lawful Basis for Processing: We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Performance of a contract — to create and manage your account, facilitate job postings and applications, and deliver the services you request.
Legitimate interests — to improve the Platform, prevent fraud, ensure security, and send service-related communications, where our interests are not overridden by your rights.
Consent — for optional marketing communications and push notifications, which you may withdraw at any time.
Legal obligation — to comply with applicable laws, tax obligations, and lawful requests from authorities.

Your Rights Under GDPR: You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (right to be forgotten), subject to legal retention requirements. You may also delete your account directly in the app under Settings → Delete Account.
Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "GDPR Data Request." We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK, or your EU member state's data protection authority).

EU/UK Representative: As GigNGo does not have a physical establishment in the EEA or UK, we designate [email protected] as the point of contact for EEA/UK data inquiries. We are committed to appointing a formal EU/UK representative as our user base in those regions grows.

9.3 CCPA — California Residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you the following rights:

Right to Know — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
Right to Delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected (subject to exceptions). You may also delete your account directly in the app.
Right to Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing — GigNGo does not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Right to Non-Discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To submit a CCPA request, contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "CCPA Privacy Request." We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days.

9.4 Other International Users

Users located outside the United States, EU, UK, and California are subject to the laws of their respective jurisdictions. GigNGo makes reasonable efforts to comply with applicable local privacy laws. However, by using the Platform, you acknowledge that your data will be processed in the United States under US law. If your jurisdiction prohibits the transfer of personal data outside your country, you should not use the Platform.

9.5 Countries with Data Localization Requirements

Certain countries (including but not limited to Russia and China) require personal data of their residents to be stored within their national borders. GigNGo's infrastructure does not currently support in-country data storage for these jurisdictions. Residents of such countries should be aware of this limitation before using the Platform.
